A Study of Eurythmy, as an Art of Movement on Holistic and Healing Chracteristics
Yim Yong-Ja

Abstract
This study was to analyze and clarify the holistic and healing characteristics of R. Steiner's Eurythmy as an art of movement with help of which Korean children and adults can be developed and healed wholly. For the purpose of this study texts, books, dissertations, and essays which are concerned with Waldorf education, Anthroposophy, and Eurythmy were collected, reviewed, and analyzed with the conceptual frames of holistic education, spiritual psychology and arts therapy specially dance movement therapy. The conclusions of this study were brought as follows: Firstly, eurythmy is a pedagogical art of integrating children's cognitive, and emotional developments with body through connecting the human senses. Secondly, eurythmy contributes itself toward evolution of human consiousness to be synthesized with spirituality and the Higher Self beyond body/mind. Thirdly, eurythmy is a tool for children and adults to be healed and hygiened wholly. Fourthly, eurythmy has the same goal as dance movement therapy partly but the processes of eurythmy and dance movement therapy are different and complimentary each other in that latter begin at the therapeutic stage, the former at a integrative stage. Fifthly, eurythmy is a excellent movement meditation with the helps of listening and moving at same time including western science and eastern philosophy of ying/yang polarity.
